Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before scheduling your free consultation at Pelvic Wellness.

Do I need a referral to start pelvic floor therapy in Michigan?

No. Occupational therapy in Michigan allows direct access, which means you can schedule your free phone consultation without seeing a doctor first. You do not need a physician referral to begin care at Pelvic Wellness.

Is the internal pelvic floor exam required at my appointment?

No. An internal pelvic floor assessment is always optional, never mandatory. Sierra can complete a thorough evaluation using external assessment and movement-based work alone. She will explain everything before any hands-on care begins, and you are always in control.

What does a session at Pelvic Wellness look like?

Each session is 60 minutes, one-on-one with Sierra. Every visit combines education, movement work, breathwork, and hands-on techniques tailored to your specific concerns. You will see the same provider every visit in a private treatment room.

Is pelvic floor therapy covered by insurance?

Pelvic Wellness is a cash-based practice and does not bill insurance. We accept cash, credit card, HSA, and FSA. Upon request, we can provide a superbill you may submit to your insurance carrier for potential reimbursement, though reimbursement is not guaranteed and is your responsibility to pursue.

How many sessions will I need?

Session frequency is discussed after your initial evaluation, once Sierra has a full picture of your needs and goals. Everyone's situation is different, and your plan is built around you, not a standard visit count.
